Publishing - to put an asset on the the web server. An asset needs to be on the web server in order for it to be displayed on your website.

Sometimes publishing can take a minute or two. View the status of your publish job by selecting Cascade (logo) > Publisher > Active Jobs from the top menu in Cascade.

View your live site (this address is provided to you when the website was created). Contact web@usask.ca for more information.

You may publish to a test website, and to the actual site (if the site has been completed and determined by your group to go live). Contact web@usask.ca to be provided with the live site checkbox for publishing..

Unpublishing - means to remove the asset from the web server. Unpublishing an asset is not the same as deleting, and it's preferable option since it doesn't necessarily remove the asset from Cascade.

Note that publishing and/or unpublishing can affect links such as: internal links, links to documents, and posted images.

Publish any files, pages or assets you have added (example: Add Content > Image; Add Content > Specialty pages > Profile List) and any edited pages.

When in doubt, publish the entire Base Folder.

If you do not have the Publish option available on your screen, you may not have been given the ability to Publish. This is sometimes the case in larger departments, where publishing is controlled by a single person.

Instructions for publishing each assest type are listed.

Remember that unpublishing a folder will unpublish all of it's children (all the files within the folder) so use caution when unpublishing folders.
